MA abandoned boxes sitrep

From: Mike Schneider (tehutika@yahoo.com) | Date: 2003-07-18 06:16:59 UTC-07:00
Greetings,

I have attempted to contact the owners of the
following boxes with no success. In the interests of
keeping these boxes active, I am volunteering to
become their caretaker.

Monument Mountain 1 Great Barrington, MA
Norman Rockwell 1 Stockbridge, MA
Pig Pen Ledges 1 Montague, MA
Bray Loop 3 Holyoke, MA (one reported missing, but
we've been there before and will verify)
Teabag Trail 1 Holyoke, MA
Eager Beaver 1 Amherst, MA
Mt. Pollux 1 Amherst, MA
Tortoise 1 Amherst, MA

All of these boxes either have been checked or will be
checked by us within the next month or so.

Additionally, the Salem Witch Trials box in Salem, MA
is a link to an outside website. In fact, this is an
Aisling box. It is my understanding that she is moving
out of the area, but I question whether or not we
should delist boxes if the clues are archived
off-site. Could the webmasters tell us what the
official policy is going to be regarding these kinds
of posted clues?

Hi Mike - thanks very much for volunteering to look after these boxes. I will
contact you off-list.

Kind regards,

Judi

Mike,
Aisling did register and claim the Salem Witch Trials box - but it
is under the name Bridget Bishop.
Thanks for volunteering to adopt those other boxes!

Actually, that box was still listed as abandoned so I've reset the owner to
Aisling. As far as I can tell, all her boxes are now under her name as both
owner and maintainer.

Thanks

Judi

Regarding Aisling's boxes:
Why would we delist them? I see no reason for a box to be removed from the master list just because the clues are better suited to being posted on an outside website. In terms of her leaving the area, I am already going to take care of the two boxes up at Gilson Road in Nashua, NH. I'm sure that someone in the Salem, MA area would be more than willing to check on that box every six months or so in order to check on everything. If Aisling is no longer willing to keep the clues on her website, well, I'll take them and put them on mine if she wants. :)

In all seriousness, I don't understand why we would want less boxes listed instead of more.
